Pre-pilgrimage

Looking Forward: The Journey Begins...

Yesterday, I attended the first information session for my upcoming study tour to Israel in September. This will be held for 4 weeks at the Ecce Homo Institute in the heart of the Jerusalem Old City. There will be a group of 8 from Tasmania travelling together as pilgrims for this unforgettable immersion experience. This information session was a basic outline of who, when, where, what, why and how, complete with recommendations for restaurants and tips on haggling!

I, along with 3 other teachers from across the State, were fortunate to have been awarded fully funded scholarships, with sincere thanks to the Tasmanian Catholic Education Office.

I am really looking forward to being able to live, smell, and breathe in the life and heart of this ancient city, which despite it's troubled past, present and future - still remains so important to humanity.

I found this Youtube clip which for me captures some of the anticipation and expectation...

So... the research and compiling the 'to do list' will commence soon!

Jerusalem the movie

I have recently discovered that IMAX 3D are currently filming on location Jerusalem the movie due for worldwide release in 2013.

This movie has a number of short clips on their Youtube channel.

This movie is shaping up to be a fantastic production of the heart and soul of this ancient city which is a melting pot and home to numerous cultures and religions.
